The First Priority........
We should always remember our first priority in the pro-life movement.
We must pray. We must pray for the women with unexpected pregnancies, for the children they carry and the rest of their families.
We must pray for the elderly, their families and caretakers. We must pray for the doctors who support and defend life, and those who perform abortions or assist in euthanasia. We pray that the first group may be strengthened in their mission and that the second group may experience a change of heart, see God's will for them and appreciate the sacredness of life.
And prayer should always be our FIRST priority, because without prayer, none of our other actions will be successful. They will be window treatments on a dilapidated structure.
The importance of prayer was highlighted recently in an e-mail from one of our state pro-life leaders, Maria Gallagher. Here it is:
Dear Chapter Leaders,
When I attended a pro-life conference at a church in Carlisle, PA, over the weekend, a couple of interesting ideas came up that I wanted to share with you.
One was to encourage pro-lifers who are in retirement communities, nursing homes, or who are homebound, and who are able, to pray for the success of the efforts of your chapters and for the work of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation staff. It was said that this is a potentially vast reservoir of prayer that has been largely untapped.
The other idea is to “spiritually adopt” a pro-abortion public official and to commit to pray that the individual has a change of heart and mind and will see the importance of safeguarding human life. As my late father used to say when I shared a dilemma with him, “Have you tried prayer?“
Thank you for all you are doing to protect innocent human life!
Take care,
Maria Gallagher
